The Grizzlies and coach Bernie Armstrong spent time at the center for at-risk youth to deliver toys as part of an annual holiday drive. Athletes in the Community donated the toys for the event.
“I’m so glad we could give back to the great kids at McGivney, helping to make the holidays more meaningful for them and their families,” Shaban said in a press release. “What makes this program special is it incentivizes young folks to work hard at school and aspire to be better. I’m so impressed by their work ethic and drive, and I’m pleased we could help them.”
The gifts are set to be presented to local kids as part of the annual “Christmas Store” program. Each child earns points from the center for good grades, positive conduct and good citizenship and they can spend the points at the Christmas Store to buy gifts for everyone in their households – including themselves.
Last year, more than 600 gifts were provided for children and their families.
