Redding Residents OK Town Hall, Bridge Projects

REDDING, Conn. – Redding residents approved the financing for two projects at a special meeting Wednesday.

Residents at a meeting at the community center approved:

• An upgrade to the sprinkler system fire code at Town Hall for not more than $100,000.

• The rehabilitation of the Poverty Hollow Bridge over the Aspetuck River for $301,349.62.

Twenty-four residents attended the meeting and voted separately on the two projects. They voted 15-6 in favor of the Poverty Hollow Bridge project, according to Redding Town Clerk Michele Grande. There were five no votes and an undetermined number of yes votes for the sprinkler system resolution, Grande said.

The Redding Board of Finance is authorized to determine how the projects will be financed. Funds from the capital and nonrecurring account could be used or money could be borrowed through a long-term financing plan.
