WESTPORT, Conn. — U.S. Rep. Jim Himes (D-4th District) will be in the area to talk politics, the new federal tax proposal, the Russia investigation and more on Tuesday, Nov. 21, his first local appearance since the November elections.

Now in his fifth term, Himes will address the membership of Indivisible Connecticut District 4 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at The Unitarian Church, 10 Lyons Plains Road, Westport.

President Donald Trump "continues to play to the very worst instincts of anxious Americans with his discriminatory travel ban, heartless health care plan and tax plan that favors the wealthy,” Himes said. “But, thanks to the voices and actions of millions of grassroots advocates, he has not been able to deliver on his devastating promises.”

Citing big election wins among progressive candidates, ICT4 Founder Roger Longman said that resistance groups have evolved into political powerhouses, here in Connecticut and across the U.S.

“Over the last year, ordinary people have responded to this moment by standing indivisible against cuts to health care, against bigotry and against xenophobia, and have infused our movement with groundbreaking energy and numbers,” Longman said.

Admission to the Nov. 21 meeting is free, but seating preference will be given to those who have pre-registered online at
