Boucher, who is co-chair of the task force, said the new regulations may be ready by Feb. 15.
“We’re trying to do it in short fashion and not wait until the end of the legislative session,” said the Republican lawmaker, who represents New Canaan, Redding, Ridgefield, Weston, Westport and Wilton.
She also said the approach will be bipartisan. “It’s not going to be about what I want, but about what the group as a whole can facilitate,” she said.
Public hearings devoted to school safety, gun safety and mental health will take place Friday, Jan. 25, and Monday and Tuesday, Jan. 28 and 29, in Hartford. A fourth hearing is set for Wednesday, Jan. 30, at 6 p.m. at Newtown High School.
“We hope to have something out of our committee by Feb. 5 and passed by Feb. 15,” Boucher said.
