According to Westport Police, on Sept. 28, 2018, officers were dispatched around noon to the area of Post Road West and Wilton Road on a report of a hit-and-run crash, said Westport Police.
Both vehicles were traveling southbound on Wilton Road approaching the intersection with Post Road West. When the victim’s vehicle stopped behind traffic at the intersection, it was rear-ended by the suspect vehicle, which proceeded to turn right and continue westbound on Post Road West, police said.
The victim was able to provide the registration number of the vehicle, which identified the owner as Jaylyn Wallace of West Haven, police said.
The investigating officer later made contact with Wallace who agreed to provide her license, registration, and insurance, which was later found to have been canceled, they added.
The investigating officer submitted an arrest warrant application for Wallace, which was later approved.
On Thursday, March 14, Wallace turned herself in at police headquarters on the outstanding warrant.
She was charged with evading responsibility, lack of insurance, and following too closely.
Wallace was released after posting $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Court on March 21.
