On Aug. 17, the victim was on a first date with a woman who called herself “Sophie” at Finalmente Trattoria on Post Road East, police said. When the waitperson took the victim’s credit card to pay the bill, “Sophie” excused herself to use the restroom, police said.
She asked the manager to add a $300 gift card to the charge, took the card and used it on Aug. 18 and 19, according to the report.
The victim reported the incident to police on Aug. 23 and was able to provide a license plate of his date’s car, police said. Officers set up a photograph line up and the victim identified “Sophie” as Katherine Stonick, 27, of West Elm Street, New Haven, police said.
Stonick turned herself in on a warrant Friday. She was charged with sixth-degree larceny and illegal use of a credit card, police said.
She was released after posted $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 26, police said.
