While on patrol, a Westport police officer observed Jonathan Green, panhandling in the area of the exit 17 ramp, police said.
The officer warned Green to leave the area and pick up the garbage he had left, police said. When the officer returned, Green was actively panhandling in the highway again ignoring the officer’s prior warning, police said.
Green was uncooperative throughout the booking process, according to police.
Green was charged with reckless use of the highway by a pedestrian, interfering with an officer, first-degree criminal trespass and littering or dumping, police said.
Green’s bond was set at $500, which he was unable to post. He was was arraigned at Norwalk Court on July 7, police said.
