WESTPORT, Conn. -- Westport police arrested a man who they say tried to stop a tow truck driver from moving his disabled vehicle last week.

At around 4:35 p.m. on Friday a Westport police officer responded to the area of Wilton Road and Ivy Knoll in reference to a disabled motor vehicle. The officer arrived to find a disabled motor vehicle blocking one lane of travel on Wilton Road, police said. No notes were left by the owner/operator, nor had Westport police been contacted by the owner operator.

The officer requested a tow truck, and one responded to remove the vehicle. All units cleared the area, and shortly afterwards police received a call from the tow truck operator requesting assistance.

Police responded to the intersection of Wilton Road and Post Road W. and found that the owner of the motor vehicle, 49-year-old Henry Delacruz of Norwalk, had climbed onto the rear of the truck, according to police. Delacruz refused to get down off the back of the truck, causing it to have to stop and block Wilton Road, police said. He was causing a scene and yelling at both the tow truck driver and police, according to police reports.

Eventually, Delacruz got off the back of the tow truck and was immediately arrested and charged with breach of peace. He posted a $500 bond and will appear in court on March 13.
