Sammy Alanz, 41, of Trumbull, was charged with first-degree threatening and third-degree assault.
Police said they were called at 9:30 a.m. to a parking lot at 190 Main St. by a man who said he was assaulted by Alanz, who pushed him to the ground, then opened up his coat and pointed to his waist, saying he would kill the man, police said.
The victim said he fearful that his attacker had a gun, police said.
When officers arrived, Alanz came out of his business, the Wine Bar, police said. The victim pointed at him and yelled "That's him," to officers, police said.
Officers ordered Alanz to keep his hands in plain sight and walk toward them, police said. Alanz was then handcuffed and questioned about the incident, police said.
Alanz denied having a weapon on him or in his possession, police said. However, a search of Alanz turned up a loaded magazine in his jacket pocket with six bullets in it, police said.
Then, Alanz again denied having a weapon with him and denied having a gun in his business, police said.
Hen consented to search his business for a firearm, police said. Lo and behold, a firearm was found inside the business, matching the magazine found on Alanz, police said.
The weapon was seized, and Alanz was arrested.
He was released on $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on March 27.
