“I want to provide real information in order that residents can make informed decisions about present and future police department operations and budgets,” Troxell said in a statement.

At the session, Troxell will answer questions about how his department has increased school security since the shooting in Newtown in December. In particular he will discuss the “Mile of Safety” program for patrolling the area near Weston’s schools and potential plans to add a school resource officer to the department.

The chief will also discuss the work of Weston Police for the town’s overall safety, including his department’s staffing, training and equipment.

The meeting will be held Wednesday, April 10, starting at 8 p.m. in the Town Hall meeting room. All members of the public are welcome to attend the session.

“Bring your questions to the meeting,” said Beth Gralnick, vice chairman of the Police Commission.   “Chief Troxell is looking forward to an exchange of ideas on this serious topic.”
