The suspect, identified as Ryan Gussen, was stopped by police for almost crashing into the guardrails on the Sherwood Island Connector and waiting at green lights at about 1 a.m. Thursday, police report.
Gussen was slurring his speech and was moving slowly, according to officials.
Officers performed the standard field sobriety tests; when it was determined he was under the influence of narcotics and alcohol, Gussen was taken into custody, police said.
Officers found two Adderall pills and 2.5 Xanax pills in a container not meant for such pills, according to officials.
During processing, Gussen refused to submit to a urine test, police said.
Charges against the defendant include operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol, possession of marijuana, possession of narcotics, cell phone violation and failure to drive right, according to officials.
Gussen’s bond was set at $750 with a court date in Norwalk set for Tuesday, May 31, police report.
