Redding, Ridgefield Police To Crack Down On Distracted Driving

REDDING/RIDGEFIELD, Conn. -- With new laws and stiffer penalties now in effect in Connecticut for distracted driving, Redding and Ridgefield police will be setting up enforcement checkpoints, according to Patch.com.

Redding Police will have a distracted driving checkpoint near Route 53 and Route 107 on Friday, Oct. 11.

One checkpoint will be set up in Redding on Friday, Oct. 11, at Route 53 and Route 107, according to Patch.com.

A checkpoint in Ridgefield will be set up on Tuesday, Oct. 15, on Route 7 near the Redding line, Patch.com reported.

The new distracted driving law includes bigger fines for drivers and making it a moving violation. In addition, the violation will appear on a driver's motor vehicle report, meaning it could have a negative impact on car insurance rates.
