Police: Westport Woman Crashed Into Cop Car While Drunk

WESTPORT, Conn. – A 53-year-old Westport woman was charged with drunken driving after her car crashed into the back of a marked police cruiser, police said.

The accident happened last Friday night at Post Road East and Cedar Road, police said. Tammie Sergerson, the driver, smelled of alcohol when responding officers arrived at the accident scene, the arrest report said. As a result, she was asked to perform roadside sobriety tests, which she failed, police said.

The officer driving the cruiser was taken to Norwalk Hospital with minor injuries, police said.

Sergerson, of Greens Farms Road, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, a misdemeanor, and following too closely. She was held on $500 bond and is scheduled to appear at Norwalk Superior Court on Sept. 3.
