Ernest Bailey, 49, of Wilton Road, who police identified as a “known criminal,” was charged with third-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, third-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny and credit card theft, police said.
He was given a $50,000 bond and was released to the custody of Norwalk courts, where he was being held on another charge.
In Oct. 2016, officers were called to a Weston Road home by a woman who said she couldn’t find her purse and her bank had advised her of fraudulent activity on her account, police said,
The investigating officer learned the victim’s belongings were found in the parking lot of a Bridgeport pawn shop.
The officer also followed up with People’s Bank in Stamford, where a teller said Bailey, whom she recognized as a known criminal, had withdrawn $300 from the victim’s account, police said.
When the officer interviewed Bailey, who was being held in Norwalk, he admitted he worked with another suspect on the crimes he was charged with in Westport, police said. He was arrested on a warrant Monday.
A warrant is forthcoming for the second suspect.
