The sailboat ran aground on a sunken island in Long Island Sound, Westport police said.

There were six people on board and two dogs, and were reported to be OK after the rescue, police said.

Officers were challenged by 3-foot waves and "had to utilize a wave runner to get a line in due to rocks," Westport police said. The sea tow was on the scene and assisted as well.
