Man Charged With Assaulting Nurse In Westport

WESTPORT, Conn. – A 61-year-old Bridgeport man is facing strangulation and assault charges in Westport stemming from an incident that took place in February at the St. Vincent’s Behavioral Health Services facility on Long Lots Road, police said.

Clifton Griffiths is accused of assaulting a nurse at the facility Feb. 17. He was arrested Thursday in Bridgeport on a warrant and charged with third-degree strangulation, a misdemeanor, and assault of public safety/emergency medical personnel, a felony.

Unable to post $2,500 bond, Griffiths was arraigned at Norwalk Superior Court on Thursday morning. He is due back in court May 14.
