The incident took place in New Haven County on I-84 in Southbury around 8 a.m. on Thursday, June 16.

A foot pursuit ensued for about 300 yards before caught up with Brown and a "violent struggle" took place, police added.

During the struggle, Brown attempted to take one of the trooper's firearms from his holster, police said.

Passing motorists stopped to help the troopers and a taser was used to take him into custody, they added.

Two troopers were transported to an area hospital for minor injuries. The civilians who stopped and helped were not injured, police said.

Brown was transported to a separate hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
