Sherman Miles, 59, of New Haven was arrested on Aug. 2, 2016 on charges connected to a November 2015 burglary at a residence on Main Street. At the request of prosecutors, Detective Taylor applied for and was granted a search warrant for a DNA sample from Miles, police said.

Detectives attempted to execute the search warrant on Miles, who is incarcerated, on July 31, but Miles refused to comply with the court order and would not submit to a DNA sample, police said.

Miles was charged on Aug. 24 with interfering with a search, and held on an additional $10,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear for the new charges on Sept. 5.
