REDDING, Conn. Four teens were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries in a one-car accident on Sunset Hill Road on Sept. 17. There were five teens in the car, including the driver, a 17-year-old girl from Redding, who struck a tree near the intersection of Route 58 and Sunset Hill Road. The accident is under investigation, police said.

At 8:33 a.m., Tuesday, a school bus sideswiped a town dump truck on Route 53 en route to the Redding Middle School. There were students on board but no injuries were reported and the accident is under investigation, according to police.
A car driven by Kaia Fahrenholz, 49, from Newtown, struck a motorcycle driven by Richard Gaines, 58, from Florida on Cross Highway on Sept. 15. Gaines was transported to Danbury Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. Fahrenholz was traveling east and making a left turn into a private drive when she struck Gaines who was traveling west. Fahrenholz was ticketed for failure to yield, police said.
A homeowner on High Ridge Road found an unexploded military mortar shell in his yard. A Connecticut bomb squad removed the mortar. The homeowner found the 14-inch shell while digging in his yard and Redding police believe it had been there for a long time.
