No one was injured in the 8:05 a.m. accident, but major repair work is needed on the pole, police said.
The road is closed between Compo Road North/Route 136 and Whitney Street, police said. The closure is just north of the Compo Road Shopping Center.
It will remain closed for a significant period of time to facilitate the repair of the telephone pole, police said.
Eversource estimates that repairs will take approximately five hours to complete.
No injuries were reported in the accident.
