WESTPORT, Conn. — One person was seriously injured in a two-car collision on Saturday afternoon on the Post Road East in Westport, police said.
At 3:33 p.m., the Westport Police Department, fire department and EMS units responded to an accident near 980 Post Road East, police said. Arriving emergency personnel found two heavily damaged vehicles in the road, and the began medical treatment of the drivers, police said.
One occupant was seriously injured and transported to Norwalk Hospital, police said.
The second driver declined further medical treatment at the scene, police said.
Preliminary information at the scene indicated that one of the vehicles was exiting 980 Post Road E. and collided with a vehicle traveling east on the Post Road, police said.
The Post Road in the area of 980 Post Road E. was closed while the accident is investigated by the Westport Police Accident Investigation Unit and Detective Bureau.
