Driver Rescued After Rollover Crash On I-95 In Westport Takes Out Pole

WESTPORT, Conn. — Westport firefighters came to the aid of a driver was trapped in his car after slamming into a pole and rolling over his car on I-95 on Saturday morning.

The crash was reported at 6:44 a.m. Saturday on I-95 north near Exit 18, according to Assistant Fire Chief Brian Meadows.

Engine 4, Rescue 3 and the Shift Commander responded to the scene and found the driver trapped in the car, which was on its side, Meadows said in a statement. 

Engine 4 stretched a hose line and began patient care, Meadows said. Rescue 3 and Engine 2, which also responded, worked to stabilize the vehicle before removing the driver, he said. 

The driver was removed from the vehicle at 7:01 a.m. and patient care was transferred to Westport EMS. 

There was no information on the driver's condition.
