When firefighters responded to the crash scene at about 6 p.m., they found a vehicle on its side with the occupant trapped, the statement said.
Fire crews stabilized the car, gained entry and removed the driver, who was the only occupant of the car, the statement said.
Fire department members also deployed a hose line during the rescue operation as a precaution, the statement said.
The patient was transported to Norwalk Hospital by Westport Emergency Medical Services personnel. No information was available on the patient's condition.
Kings Highway North was closed for about an hour while emergency personnel worked at the scene. The vehicle was finally removed by a flatbed tow truck.
