The crash occurred at about 6:35 a.m. between Exits 42 and 44, said a statement from Assistant Fire Chief Brett Kirby.
One person was trapped in the car because of the impact against the tree, Kirby said. Firefighters used hydraulic rescue tools to extricate the person, he said.
The passenger side door was removed quickly, and the occupant was removed from the vehicle to get care from EMS, Kirby said.
"We would like to remind everyone to take extreme caution when driving in inclement weather," he said. "Roadways can become slick with just a small amount of rainfall, particularly after a long dry spell."
Engine 6, Engine 2, Rescue 3 and the shift commander responded to the call. The scene was cleared by at 7:10 a.m., he said.
