Chad Davis, 21, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of a hallucinogenic and failure to obey a control signal.
The incident began when Officer Rachel Baron saw a blue sedan traveling extremely slowly on Main Street heading north around 2 a.m., police said. The vehicle failed to come to a complete stop, then traveled through a red blinking light at Main Street and Avery Place, police said.
The car then made several turns in the area, which was suspicious as it did not appear to be traveling to a specific location, police said.
The car was stopped on the Post Road East near the Sherwood Island Connector, police said. The driver was identified by his Connecticut learner’s permit and Oregon license as Davis. Baron saw marijuana on Davis's lap, and a plastic bag filled with a leafy green substance, police said.
A search of the car turned up a large bag of leafy green substance believed to be marijuana in the trunk, police said.
Three folds of a wax paper containing a brown powder substance believed to be heroin were also found, police said, as well as a small rock-like substance and an envelope with $7,500 cash, which was seized, police said.
Davis was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters. The green leafy substance tested positive for marijuana and weighed 250 grams, police said. The rocklike substance tested positive for ecstasy and weighed 2 grams, police said. The wax folds containing the brown powered substance tested positive for heroin, police said.
Davis was held on $15,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on March 9.
