The incident began at about 1:09 p.m., when officers from Weston Police and surrounding towns responded to a reported burglary/home invasion on Hidden Spring Drive off Singing Oaks Drive, Troxell said.
The homeowner had returned to the residence, and three suspects fled on foot after a physical altercation with the homeowner, he said.
The suspects also abandoned the car that they arrived in in the driveway, Troxell said.
The homeowner called 911, and officers responded, police said. Within 20 minutes, the three suspects were apprehended in the area of Newtown Turnpike, he said.
The Connecticut State Police Major Crime Unit was on the scene investigating, Troxell said.
The vehicle left at the scene has been identified as stolen, he said.
Two male suspects were held at the Weston Police headquarters, and a third male suspect was held at the Wilton Police Department.
Officers from Weston, Wilton, Redding, Easton and Fairfield assisted with the response and apprehension along with a New Canaan officer who was working on a forensic case in the Weston Police forensic lab, Troxell said.
