Vincent DePierro, 75, Of Westport, Publisher At Parents Magazine

WESTPORT, Conn. - Vincent Kenneth DePierro, longtime Westport resident died April 8. He was 75.

DePierro was born June 9, 1937, in Jersey City, N.J. He moved to Westport when he was 12, and attended Bedford Middle and Staples High schools. At Staples he was vice president of his class and a member of both the football and track teams. He received the Sportsman Award from the Sportsmen of Westport in 2000. He was a lifelong Westporter except for his time attending Syracuse University and a brief stint living in New York City.

DePierro began his career in advertising and publishing at Young & Rubicam. He worked in advertising sales at both Family Circle and Woman’s Day Magazine before landing at Parents Magazine where he worked for almost 20 years before retiring as associate publisher.

DePierro served as president of the Staples Booster Club, a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals, the Minuteman Yacht Club, Singles under Sail, and the Y’s Men of Westport Weston, during his 60-plus years in Westport. He was a member of the Red Cross “Gallon Club”.

DePierro is survived by daughters, Lynda (Bob) Simonton, Nicole (Doug) Metchick and Christine (Kyle) Pietras; and eight grandchildren. He was predeceased by parents, Anthony and Susan DePierro; and his wife Raffaela (Rae) Urso DePierro. 

There will be a celebration of DePierro’s life at a reception Friday, April 12, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Red Barn restaurant, 292 Wilton Road.
