Robert A. Burner, 86, Of Redding, Worked For Niagara Machine & Tool Works

REDDING, Conn. - Robert Avery Burner, of Redding, formerly of Scotch Plains, N.J., died Friday, August 2. He was 86.

Burner was born in Plainfield, N.J. in 1926. After serving in the Army in Italy during World War II, he received his Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Syracuse University in 1952. He worked 37 years for Niagara Machine & Tool Works as New York district sales manager. A member of the Crescent Ave. Presbyterian Church in Plainfield, he chaired the Memorial Garden. He earned a master gardener certificate with the Cooperative Extension Rutgers University and volunteered for 15 years. He belonged to the Plainfield Country Club.

Burner is survived by his wife, Jane Scott Burner; son, Bradley Scott Burner (Linda Detwiller) of Lomita Calif; daughter, Katharine Rice (L. Sanford Rice) of Bethel; three grandchildren
