Patricia Taylor, 84, Former Norwalk Teacher

WESTPORT, Conn. – Patricia "Pat" C. Taylor, a longtime Westport resident, died Thursday, July 12, at Norwalk Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was 84. 

Taylor was born April 20, 1928, in Bronx, N.Y., to Dr. Gerald Carroll and Florence Donnelly Carroll. She was married to Paul C. Taylor Sr. for 55 years. Before raising four children, Taylor worked as a teacher in the Norwalk school system. 

She graduated from Georgian Court University in New Jersey and received a master's degree in education from Columbia University. Taylor served as a member of the Assumption Church Women's Guild for many years.  

She later started a second career as an administrator at the Southport Racquet Club, where she worked for more than 20 years. She enjoyed reading and knitting and looked forward to weekly bridge games with friends.  

Taylor is survived by her husband, Paul; two sons, Paul C. (Karen) Taylor Jr., of Fairfield, and Timothy L. (Megan) Taylor, of Westport; two daughters, Geryl A. (Michael) Reid, of Stratford, Conn., and Laureen C.T. (Edward) Koch, of Reno, Nev.; a brother, Kevin Carroll, of Maine; and 10 grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Dr. Gerald Carroll; and two sisters, Maureen Boylan and Esme Carroll. 

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Assumption Church in Westport. The family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at Harding Funeral Home in Westport.
