Mary Bussey Lalley, 92, Formerly Of Westport

WESTPORT, Conn. – Former Westport resident Mary Bussey Lalley of Redding died on July 27 after a long illness.

Mary grew up in Troy, N.Y., with her parents Mamie and Charles Bussey; siblings Robert, Dorothy and Eva; and aunts Mary, Aggie, Martha and uncle Johnny Farrell. In her early 20's, she became a stewardess with TWA and enjoyed traveling the country in the early days of the airlines. 

She was married to Edward Lalley for 49 years and together they raised their three children in Westport. She enjoyed her later years living at Meadow Ridge in Redding. 

She is survived by her son Ned Lalley of Danbury, daughters Kathy Lalley and husband Peter Connor of Tucson, Jean Sprague and husband Nick of Bishop, CA and grandchildren Jack and Chris Connor, Colin and Kevin Sprague and Craig and Keith Basta.

Mary had a flair for decorating and enjoying sewing, hooking rugs and making jewelry.  She was a volunteer with the American Red Cross. 

There will be a memorial mass at Sacred Heart Church in Georgetown on Saturday, Aug. 10 at 11 a.m.  A celebration of her life will follow the ceremony at 12:30 p.m. at Meadow Ridge in Redding. 

Mary contributed to numerous charities such as Doctors Without Borders, the American Cancer Society and the Alzheimer’s Association.  Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
