Geoghegan was born April 26, 1921, to John and Margaret Chittick of Philadelphia, Pa. She lived in Weston, Conn., for more than three decades. She was a graduate of Columbia University in New York City from which she received a Masters of Social Work degree at the age of 56. She was also a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Bridgeport. She worked at the Hall-Brooke Hospital in Westport and the Yale-New Haven Hospital before establishing her own successful family therapy practice. She retired in 1995 to Fearrington Village in Pittsboro.
Geoghegan is survived by her children, Michael of Chocowinity; Peter of Bridgeport, Conn.; Maggie of Woodside, Calif., and John of San Francisco, Calif; and six grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, John J. Geoghegan, Jr.; brother, John; and sister, Jean.
