Helen Campbell, 94, Longtime Weston Resident

WESTON, Conn. - Helen Campbell, a longtime resident of Weston, died Monday, July 1. She was 94.

Campbell was born in Cherryvale, Kan., she moved with her husband and family to Weston from their home in Tulsa, Okla., in 1962. She held several volunteer positions in the Weston and Westport schools and worked for many years as the accountant for the town of Weston.

For her many acts of community service, such as heading a team from Norfield Congregational Church that cooked and served Sunday dinners at the Norwalk Soup Kitchen, teaching at Special Church (an ecumenical church school for children and adults with special needs), and volunteering regular clerical help for the Bread and Roses AIDS hospice in Georgetown. She received the Unsung Hero Award from the American Red Cross in 1999.

Campbell is survived by her children, the Rev. Dana Campbell of East Hartford, Colin B. Campbell (Hop) of Chevy Chase, Md., Barbara Campbell of Newtown, Mark Campbell of Weston; seven grandchildren; and a niece. She was predeceased by her husband, Colin Clyde Campbell.
