Gary Wang, 63, Of Redding, Owned Textile Design Business

REDDING Conn. - Gary Wang (Wang Kuo Pin) of Redding died Oct. 3. He was 63.

Wang was born July 17, 1950, in Hong Kong, to P.C. Wang and Y.J. Chu Wang. He spent his early years in Taiwan. He graduated from Taiwan University in 1972 with a BA degree in Chinese Literature. Following two years of military service in Taiwan, he moved to the United States in 1975, where he earned an additional degree in interior design from the New York School of Interior Design. He became a textile designer and owned and operated his own textile design business for 30 years.

Wang is survived by his spouse, Thomas Hamilton of Redding; sisters, Josephine Wang of Redding and Catherine Hsu of Malden, Mass.; son, Isa Wang of Boston, Mass.; three step-daughters, Laura, Rachel, and Jeanette Hamilton; sister-in-law, Rosa Wang; niece and his nephews and their spouses; partners; and children. He was predeceased by his brother, James Wang.

A Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12 at the Unitarian Church in Westport, 10 Lyons Plains Road, Westport.
