Albert 'Pat' Cyr, 90, Redding Carpenter

REDDING, Conn. – Albert "Pat" Cyr of Redding died July 27 at his home after a brief illness. He was 90. 

Cyr was born March 22, 1922, in Presque Isle, Maine, to Jude and Helen Fortin Cyr. He served in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II, stationed in England. He was married to Martha "Martie" Banks Cyr.

Cyr worked as a carpenter in Redding for many years. He was a 25-year volunteer firefighter in Georgetown, a member of the First Church of Christ Congregational in Redding for 54 years and was a longtime member of the Housatonic Valley Antique Car Club. 

He is survived by his wife of 65 years; a daughter-in-law, Kathleen Cyr, of Southbury, Conn.; two brothers, Lawrence (Tina) Cyr and Richard (Barbara) Cyr, both of Bethel; a sister-in-law, Lillian Cyr, of Danbury; and several nieces and nephews.

Cyr was predeceased by a son, Edward; two brothers, Clarence and Louis (Bozo) Cyr; and a sister, Caroline Cassavechia. 

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Aug. 4, at First Church of Christ Congregational in Redding. His ashes will be buried in Hull Cemetery in Redding, following the service. There are no calling hours. Hull Funeral Service is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to a favorite charity.
