Opera singer and Broadway star David Pittsinger has performed all over the world, but this Friday, he will share his talents with Weston at a free concert.
Pittsinger will perform arias and musical theater, accompanied by pianist Fred Lassen, and will participate in a question-and-answer session with Christine Lomuscio, former chair of the Weston Arts Commission.
The Connecticut-born star has performed on some of the world's most famous opera stages, cast in such roles as Mephistopheles in Gounod's "Faust," Angelotti in "Tosca," Turlove in "The Rake's Progress" by Stravinsky, the ghost of Hamlet's father in Ambriose Thomas' version of "Hamlet" performed at the Metropolitan Opera House, the lead role in "Don Giovanni" and Figaro in "Nozze de Figaro" with the New York City Opera. Pittsinger has also performed with the New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Vienna Philharmonic and St. Luke's Chamber Orchestra. His wife is world-famous mezzo-soprano Patricia Schuman.
Lassen has been a conductor for various Broadway productions such as "Cabaret," "Spamalot," "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels," "42nd Street" and "Once Upon a Mattress."
The Weston Commission for the Arts is sponsoring the free concert. A total of 600 seats are available first come, first served to the public. No reservations will be allowed. The Weston High School Auditorium doors will open at 7:30 p.m. for the 8 p.m. show.
