The members of New York City-based Mecca Bodega spent part of their Saturday playing a variety of percussion and wind instruments at the Westport Art Festival. They weren't the only act performing, but were probably the only one with a didgeridoo.
Bodega performs exclusively on world instruments like the long wooden horn invented by the Indigenous Australians more than a century ago. At the fair, they performed with wooden pipes and hand drums as well.
Other musicians, on more contemporary instruments like guitars, were also set up to serenade, and hopefully make a buck or two from the art aficionados touring the booths.
One of the more interesting acts wandering the grounds was a living statue who would quickly change poses to toy playfully with spectators. Of course, much like a mime, he didn't speak a word.
There will be entertainment throughout the art festival, which is taking place in Westport's Parker Harding Plaza. The event goes until 6 p.m. Saturday, and Sunday from 10 a.m. until closing at 5 p.m.
