Work To Close Section Of Rt. 58 In Easton This Weekend

EASTON, Conn. – A portion of Route 58 in Easton will be closed Saturday and Sunday for tree work, according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

On April 13 and 14 Black Rock Turnpike (Route 58) will be closed to through traffic between Division Street and Westport Road (Route 136). Burr Street will also be closed near its intersection with Black Rock Turnpike. A detour will take cars along Division Street to North Street, then onto Redding Road, and then to Westport Road to return to Black Rock Turnpike.

Aquarion Water Company is currently clearing trees and brush along Route 58 and other areas near the Hemlock Reservoir. Work is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, which will cause the road closure.

The detour and road closing times are subject to change to weather and or other “unforeseen conditions,” the DOT said in a press release. “Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity,” the release adds.
