Woman Found in Westport Reportedly Identified

WESTPORT, Conn. – Several media outlets, including The Hartford Courant, WTNH and News 12, have reported that the woman found dead on I-95 in Westport late Thursday night has been identified. However, two separate dispatchers at state police Troop G in Bridgeport said the woman has not yet been identified.

The woman was reportedly identified as 43-year-old Michelle M. Cassano, address unknown. The Daily Westport contacted Troop G twice Saturday, once at 10 a.m. and again at 2 p.m., seeking an ID on the woman, and both times was told there was no ID.

At 2:30 p.m., a call was also placed to the state medical examiner's office seeking cause and manner of death. A representative said she hasn't been formally identified.

The woman's body was spotted by an off-duty officer on the Exit 18 southbound on-ramp between the entrance ramp acceleration lane and the right lane of the highway. In a statement released Friday, state police spokesman Lt. Paul Vance said the woman suffered "significant visible trauma."
