What's Happening Around Easton This Weekend

EASTON, Conn. – The Easton library will be closed for Good Friday and Easter. But Saturday is filled with regional events, both holiday-related and not, to make up the difference. There also are Easter services on Sunday.

Here’s a sampling of what’s going on in and around Easton this weekend:

Friday, April 6

7:30 p.m.: Folk group Pegi Young and the Survivors, fronted by the wife of Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Neil Young, plays the Fairfield Theater Company. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 at the theater’s website, or at the box office at 70 Sanford St.

Saturday, April 7

9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.: “Puzzlethon” comes to Sacred Heart University in Fairfield. The fundraiser has participants complete puzzles to raise money for ASCONN, a Connecticut collection of autism support groups. The competition will take place at the school’s University Commons, at 5151 Park Ave.

10 a.m.: The Pequot Library in Fairfield will hold its annual Easter Egg Roll. Bring your own hard-boiled egg for decorating. Kids as young as 2 will race in age groups for prizes, and will get the chance to meet the Easter Bunny. The event is free at the Pequot Library, 720 Pequot Ave.

Noon and 6 p.m.: The Quick Center for the Arts’ Metropolitan Opera in HD series presents Jules Massenet's “Manon.” The Met’s performance of the opera will be simulcast on the theater’s HD Screen. Tickets range from $15 to $25, and are available at the theater’s website or the box office at 1073 N. Benson Road, Fairfield.

2 p.m.: The Fairfield University Bookstore will host an Easter Egg Hunt for kids up to age 4. Parental supervision is required. The event is free, and will take place on the store’s second floor at 1499 Post Road.

5 p.m.: Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, 655 Morehouse Road, holds a Vigil Mass.

Sunday, April 8

8 a.m.: Christ Church, 59 Church Road, Easton, celebrates Easter Mass. There also is a Mass at 10:30 a.m.

8:15 a.m.: Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, 655 Morehouse Road, Easton, celebrates Easter Mass. Masses are also at 10 and noon.

9 a.m.: St. Dimitrie Orthodox Church, 304 Sport Hill Road, Easton, Celebrates an Easter Mass in English. There is a Mass in Romanian at 10:30 a.m.
