Westport Weston Y Holds Informational Open House

WESTPORT, Conn. – If you have questions about the new Westport Weston Family Y facility planned for the Mahackeno Outdoor Center in Westport, you can ask them during an informational open house at the Y on Tuesday night.

During the open house, visitors will get to read about the planned facility and the Y's Building What Matters capital campaign to fund the project. Family Y volunteers will also be on hand to give guided tours of the current Y facility and answer questions about the future facility. Snacks and beverages will be served in the main lobby.

"We call it our 'Vision Tour,' and it's meant to highlight what we're building at Mahackeno and, more importantly, why it matters not only to our 5,500 members but also to the entire community," said Rosemary Halstead in a release. Along with Robert Bowman, Halstead serves as co-chair of the capital campaign.

Construction on the new 102,000-square-foot facility is planned to begin in the fall of 2012 and be finished by late 2014. The informational open house will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Westport Weston Family Y, 59 Post Road E.
