Westport Coach Pleads Not Guilty in Porn Case

WESTPORT, Conn. — Former Staples High School freshman football coach Mike Pickering pleaded not guilty Friday to giving his players the access code to a porn site, the Connecticut Post reported.

Pickering, 40, who is charged with three counts of risk of injury to a minor, entered his plea in state Superior Court in Norwalk.

Pickering's lawyer, James Saraceini, appealed to Judge Bruce Hudock not to allow camera coverage of the trial, but the judge turned him down. Pickering is scheduled to return to court on Jan. 26.

Police started to investigate Pickering after a Staples student heard two football players talking about a coach giving them his password to a pornographic website.
