Weston's Valley Forge Bridge Nears Completion

The Valley Forge Bridge reconstruction project is expected to finish sometime in the next week, allowing Weston residents to return to their normal driving routes.

The $2.4 million makeover, begun in April 2010, was supposed to be completed in December. The guardrails were not available, however, so the end date was pushed to January, said First Selectman Gayle Weinstein. But the custom-molded guardrails arrived only last week, putting the project 14 weeks behind. The bridge crosses the Saugatuck River where Valley Forge Road, Kellogg Hill Road and Davis Hill Road converge.

So, Weston will soon have its bridge back, but at the price of many headaches.

What do think about the amount of time it has taken to complete the bridge? Is it normal, or did something go wrong in the process?
