Weston's Old Mill Road Closed For Removal Of Trees

WESTON, Conn. – Workers were busy removing trees from Old Weston Road Wednesday afternoon as they continue a project that will remove 32 from the road by Friday.

The road is closed to traffic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Friday with a Weston and Wilton police officer stationed at either end of the road.

The tree-removal project was approved by the Board of Selectmen who authorized $22,650 for the project after residents complained about speeding on the road and the police reported a number of accidents. The town considered installing speed bumps to slow traffic but decided to cut down trees instead to improve visibility and reduce the number of accidents.

The work is being done by Knapp Tree, Inc., of Wilton.
