WESTON, Conn. John and Chris Jepsen said it's been tough having no power since Sunday, but they set up their Xbox and made themselves at home in the Weston Town Hall on Tuesday.
"My kids were like, 'This must have been what it was like 100 years ago.' Yeah, but they didn't have it to miss it," said Jane Gulino, who brought her son, Grant, to the playground at Hurlbutt Elementary School on Tuesday. "It's hard. ... It's been three days. We've been trying to get out of the house during the day."
Gulino has cleaned out her refrigerator and has been going out to eat. She and her family went to their health club in Norwalk to shower.
"It's frustrating at night it's so dark, we can't do much," said Gulino. "We had a hike planned for Cub Scouts that we canceled, and we lost phone service." She had planned a play date with her son and a kid in Easton but couldn't get through to them on her phone.
The library and town hall were packed Tuesday with residents charging up electronic devices and surfing the Internet. The town was working to upgrade the library's Internet service because only 15 people can access it at a time. The Town Hall's Internet has unlimited accessibility.
Residents also went to Town Hall to pick up stickers for the transfer station one woman stopping in said she had to clear out two refrigerators and a freezer.
