Peter M. Krieg of Weston received a bachelor of arts degree in global studies within the College of Arts & Sciences during May commencement ceremonies at the University of Vermont.
A total of 3,097 graduates received degrees, including 2,475 bachelor's, 392 master's, 97 doctoral and 111 medical doctor degree recipients, in addition to 22 post-baccalaureate certificates. Among degree recipients were students from 43 states and 19 countries.
Chartered in 1791, UVM was the first college or university in the United States that did not give preference to a religious sect in its charter and the first to allow women to join Phi Beta Kappa. A small comprehensive university, it blends the academic heritage of a private university with service missions in the land grant tradition.
