WESTON, Conn. -- Nancy Blair, 58, of Weston was arrested on July 31 after her Audi was seen in an accident and driving erratically, police said.
Police traced her vehicle back to her home on Hidden Hill Road and found the Audi with visible damage to the right rear passenger door. When Blair answered the door, police reported, "The woman was having difficulty standing in the doorway, there was a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath when she spoke, her eyes were glassy, had difficulty maintaining eye contact with me, and was slurring her speech."
Blair told police she wasn't the owner of an Audi and had not been in an accident. She refused to go outside and speak with the police and refused to give police her operator's license, vehicle registration and insurance upon first request.
She told police she did not know about the damage to the Audi but would pay for the damages.
She "suddenly" told police she would provide her operator's license but told the police to retrieve the registration and insurance from the car themselves.
After police told Blair she was going to be arrested for avoiding responsibility and interfering with a police officer by hindering an investigation, police said Blair said, "You're not arresting me. You're not doing this to me. I'm an attorney!" She continued to tell police that she is a good citizen who pays her taxes and had been arrested for a DWI in the past.
Police said Blair initially refused to sign the misdemeanor summons until handcuffs were removed from the officer's belt. She was given a court date of Aug. 11 at Norwalk Superior Court.
