Weston Voters Head to the Polls

Weston voters head to the polls Thursday at Weston Middle School to determine the fate of the town and school budgets.

"I think it needs to be cut, just like almost any budget. I'm not picking on Weston," said Tom O'Carmody of Weston.

Each ballot will consist of three questions. The first question asks if the town's 2011-12 operating budget of $11,184,216 should be approved. The town's operating budget reflects an increase of 1.86 percent.

The second question asks if the town should approve the Board of Education's 2011-12 operating budget in the amount of $45,166,337. This is a 1.05 percent increase from 2010-11.

If both pass, the mill rate will be 23.92, a .25 percent increase from this year's rate of 23.86.

The third question asks voters to decide whether the town should appropriate $30,000 for the required documentation to refer a proposal to the Planning and Zoning Commission to construct a nondenominational municipal cemetery on the Fromson-Strassler property.
