Weston Spending Faces Town Vote

Weston voters will decide the fate of the town's budget April 6. Here is a list of details provided by the town about the voting process.

Annual Town Budget Meeting

The meeting will be held in the Weston High School auditorium on April 6 at 8 p.m. Voters will hear a discussion of the selectmen's budget and the Board of Education budget.

Voters can vote to amend the budgets at the meeting, but will not be able to cast a machine vote on the final budget numbers until Thursday, April 14.

Absentee Voting

Absentee ballots become available Thursday, April 7, at the town clerk's office from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. as required by state statute.

Town Hall will provide a special absentee balloting session Saturday, April 9 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Voters may continue to vote absentee during regular Town Hall business hours from April 11 to April 13 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Voters by absentee must appear in person or designate a family member or caregiver to pick up and return an absentee ballot on their application.

Absentee ballots will not be mailed per state statute when there is less than three weeks between finalizing the budget and the machine vote.

Machine Vote

A machine vote for the town budget will be held Thursday, April 14, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the Weston Middle School gymnasium.

Voter Eligibility

Voters must be U.S. citizens.

Voters must be 18.

Residents must be currently registered to vote in Weston.

Voters must singly (or jointly) be liable to the town to pay taxes assessed of not less than $1,000 on the last completed Grand List.
