Weston Selectmen Could Appoint New Ethics Members

WESTON, Conn. – Four members of the Weston community are in the running for appointment on the Board of Ethics during Wednesday’s Board of Selectmen meeting.

A few weeks ago, town officials discovered that two members of the Board of Ethics could have acted against the Code of Ethics by exceeding the designated term limits. According to the code, “No member may serve more than six successive years and then may not serve on another two years before he/she may serve again.”

Under that clause, it was determined that board members Denise Massingale-Lamb and Juan Negroni had already exceeded their six-year maximums. The two then had to resign, leaving town officials to open a townwide candidate search for replacements.

According to the revised meeting agenda, the selectmen will discuss and possibly appoint Joy Peshkin, John Albright, Howard Aibel and Robert Lamb. They selectmen could also possibly reappoint Paula Savignol to the board. All three terms are said to expire Dec. 31, 2013.

The selectmen will meet Dec. 14 at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall.
