Weston Police Prepare for Sandy

WESTON, Conn. – Police met with town officials Friday to discuss Hurricane Sandy preparation plans and will continue meetings throughout the weekend, Sgt. Patrick Daubert said.

Effects from Sandy could potentially begin as early as Sunday and peak in intensity Monday into Tuesday, including heavy winds and rain and coastal flooding, according to the Weather Channel.

Daubert also said the police will meet with school officials. The police have tested their generators, barricades and other storm-related equipment. They also are checking staff to ensure the force will be prepared once the storm hits. “We’ve also be in contact with our liaison from CL&P to ensure they’re prepared,” Daubert said. Town shelters at the middle school also have been checked. He advised citizens to prepare by making sure they have batteries, generators and adequate food and water. “Check on your neighbors to make sure they’re safe, especially the elderly,” he said.
